FIND YOUR TRUCK

Start with the cab in front.

  • Regular cab

One row up front, which leaves the bed longest

  • Extended cab

Half doors behind the front row, shortening the bed

  • Crew cab

Four full doors, the configuration we collect most often

    • Short bed

The cab took the length the bed lost

    • Long bed

Full bed behind a full cab, longest overall

  • Chassis cab

No factory bed, so whatever was mounted counts separately

  • Box or flatbed

A body bolted on rather than pressed with the frame

  • Dually

Four rear tires on one axle, widest track behind

Junk Truck Removal: What We Take

Cash for junk trucks works on weight and configuration rather than on mileage. A truck carries more steel than a car of the same age, and the way its cab and bed are arranged changes how much of that steel there is. Tell us the configuration and we pay cash on the spot at collection.

Configuration matters more here than condition does. Two trucks built the same year can be a long way apart on the number, because one left the factory as a regular cab with a long bed and the other as a crew cab with a short one. Pickup truck scrap value follows the steel, and the steel does not move. Neither truck has to start for any of that to hold.

Sellers usually call and say sell my junk truck, then ask what the mileage does to it. The honest answer is very little indeed. A truck that has covered a great distance and one that has barely moved are worth similar money once they reach us, because both are being weighed rather than driven. What separates them is the frame underneath and the parts still bolted on to it all.

  • Cash for junk trucks turns on weight and configuration, not mileage
  • Running or not makes far less difference than a seller expects
  • Bed and cab arrangement are worth naming on the first call

Pickup Truck Scrap Value: What Sets the Number

Mass sets most of it. A pickup carries more steel, a heavier frame and larger wheels than a car, and those are the parts that still hold value when nothing else on the vehicle does. Configuration decides how much there is. Everything below is one variation on that single fact.

The frame is the single biggest contributor. Body-on-frame construction means there is a full ladder under the cab and bed, and that ladder survives almost any condition the truck arrives in. A car built as one shell cannot offer the same thing, which is the whole reason a truck and a car of the same age separate on the number so clearly at collection. None of that depends on how the truck was used before.

After the frame comes the driveline. A four-wheel-drive truck carries a transfer case and a second differential, and a turbocharger on a diesel adds a heavier block again. None of that depends on whether the engine turns over. They are all parts that get weighed and sorted the same way whether the truck arrived under its own power or on a deck. All of it is material that still gets weighed at the far end.

Free Junk Truck Towing: How It Comes Off the Ground

On a deck, nose first, with the strap on the frame rather than the axle. A truck sits taller and heavier than a car, so the equipment is matched to the configuration before anyone leaves rather than after. Height and weight are the two things that decide which deck arrives.

Height is the first constraint. A raised suspension or a service body changes the angle the deck has to reach, and that is worth saying on the call rather than discovering it on arrival. The same is true of a bed that is loaded, because whatever is in it has to come off before the truck goes on. A loaded bed is easily the commonest surprise we meet on arrival.

Weight is the second. A crew cab with dual rear wheels sits well above what a light half-ton is rated for, so a full flatbed is sent instead. That is a different truck leaving our end, and it is the same reason we ask which cab you have before anything is scheduled for the day. Sending the wrong deck costs a day, so the question gets asked first every time.

The third is what holds it. Seized brakes, missing wheels and a locked steering column all have answers, and every one of them stops the truck happening the easy way. A ratchet strap over the frame takes the load where the body cannot, and none of it changes what comes off the deck at the far end. None of them is unusual, and not one changes the offer at all.

Whose Name Is on the Title: Business, Fleet or Personal

selling without the title

Who signs when a truck is titled to a business

Somebody authorized to sign for the company has to be the person handing it over, and the paperwork has to show the connection between that person and the name on the title. That is the whole of it from our side. Nothing else about the company matters to us here.

Bring whatever exists rather than what you think is required. We will tell you on the call whether what you have is enough before a truck is booked, which is quicker than guessing and cheaper than a wasted collection. A wasted collection helps nobody here, and least of all you.

What if the company no longer exists

It happens with work trucks, and it does not automatically stop the sale. What matters is that the person selling it can be shown to be entitled to sell it, and there is usually more than one way to show that. Dissolved companies come up more often than people expect.

We do not load a truck until that is clear, which protects you as much as it protects us. Where it is not clear we say so on the call rather than sending a driver out to your address. That one call usually takes a couple of minutes at most.

Cash for Junk Trucks: Questions, Answered

Is a junk truck worth more than a junk car?

A pickup carries a full frame under the cab and bed where a car of the same age carries none, so there is simply more material on it to weigh in the end. Age and condition still move the number, but the frame is what usually separates the one from the other.

Does a diesel truck bring a different offer?

Often it does. A diesel block is a heavier casting than a gas one, and the parts built around it match, so there is more metal sitting in the same engine bay. Whether it starts makes no difference to that at all, because the block gets weighed either way in the end.

What does bed length change about the number?

A longer bed is more sheet metal and a longer frame rail underneath it, so it moves the number upward against the same cab. It is worth naming on the first call, because a crew cab with a short bed and a regular cab with a long one are two different trucks.

Can I sell a truck titled to my company?

Company-titled trucks are collected regularly and there is nothing at all unusual about any of them. Cash for junk trucks works in the same way for a business, except somebody able to sign for it has to hand the vehicle over and the paperwork must connect that person to the title itself.

Do you buy more than one truck at once?

Multiple trucks from one address are collected together where the deck allows it, and several loads are arranged where it does not. Tell us how many there are and what each one of them is, because a row of chassis cabs loads very differently from a pair of ordinary pickups would do.

Who signs for a truck the business no longer uses?

Whoever is authorized to sign for that business, which is not always the person who drove it last. A retired work truck sitting behind a unit still belongs to whoever the title names, and that is the signer we need rather than the person who is simply holding a key to it.

How is a dually different from a regular pickup?

A dually carries four wheels on the rear axle instead of two, which means extra wheels, extra tires and a wider rear body around them. All of that is more material to weigh. It also changes which deck is sent, so it is well worth saying before anything at all is booked.
